About Stu

I began playing the guitar at 13 years of age. After graduating Neupauer Conservatory of Music in Philadelphia I studied with guitarists Pat Martino and Steve Giordano. At the time I was teaching private lessons and performing regularly in Philadelphia and Southern New Jersey. In 1992 I relocated to Southern California and started teaching and performing regularly. It was then that I began composing and producing music for television and film. In 1995, 1996 and 1997 I received an Emmy Award for musical composition on the daytime television program Guiding Light. In 1999 I co-composed the score the the film “Table For One” starring Rebecca De Mornay.

I formed the jazz trio “On The Mile” with bassist Martin Torres and drummer Marshall Gentry and released the CD “Different Lines” for E3 Records. In 1996 I collaborated with composer Mike Licari to release “Hip Funk Jazz Hop” for the Bruton Label. In 2007 I released two CD’s, “Solo Guitar” and “Duets”. In 2011-2016 I released 4 CD’s with guitarist Tom Glenn. My current project is the modern jazz group “redShift.” In 2018 redShift released the CD “Spectral Expansion.” We perform regularly in Southern California.
